history
The weapon system was developed in the 1950s and tested on the Kildin-class destroyer Bedovyy from 1957 to 1958 . In 1958 the system was introduced and first installed on the Kildin-class ships and then also on the new Krupny-class ships. A land-based system was also developed. The system was started from the starter SM-59.
As early as 1977 the system was taken out of service because it did not have a sufficient range. The SS-N-2 Styx was installed on the Kildin class , the Krupny class converted for submarine hunting .
