SWIFT J1822.3-1606 is an object that was detected with the Swift satellite . It is an example of a so-called soft gamma repeater . Recent studies indicate that the object is a magnetar , but with a relatively weak magnetic field , similar to SGR 0418 + 5729. According to current models, the strength of the magnetic field is given as 3.4 × 10 13 G , which means that the magnetar actually has a weak magnetic field for magnetars.
