Saalachtaler Höhenweg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Saalachtaler Höhenweg is a five-hour high - altitude hike in the Salzburg part of the Kitzbühel Alps between Leogang and Saalfelden .

The path runs along the mountain range that separates the Glemmtal in the south from the Leogang valley in the north.

From the Asitzhütte at the mountain station of the Asitzbahn ( 1752  m ) in the south of Leogang , the marked hiking trail runs south-west to the 1914  m high Asitzkopf . Then it leads over the 1888  m high Schabergkogel and the 1853  m Geierkogel to the east to the 1875  m high Haiderbergkogel . It continues over the 1764  m high Durchenkopf , the 1616  m high Weikersbacherköpfl , the 1541  m high Weikersbacher Kopf and the Biberg to the Huggenbergalm mountain station above Saalfelden . From here you can take the cable car or a summer toboggan run down to the valley .

A variant of the path begins at the summit station of the Kohlmaisbahn cable car on the Kohlmaiskopf ( 1794  m ) above Saalbach and leads over the 1910  m high Wildenkarkogel to the Asitzkopf. This variant takes about an hour more.
