Sabang is a city in the Indonesian province of Aceh , located in its extreme northwest on the island of Weh off the coast of Sumatra . Sabang is the westernmost city in the country. It covers an area of 118 km² and has 31,355 inhabitants (2011).
The city is divided into two districts ( kecamatan ): Sukakarya and Sukajaya .
"From Sabang to Merauke"
The Indonesian saying Dari Sabang sampai Merauke ( "from Sabang to Merauke ") serves as an expression for the name of the entire Indonesian territory, the island Sabang Weh is meant about as the in the in Germany song sung "Germany" by the Verse "From the Meuse to the Memel, from the Adige to the Belt" is geographically delimited.
