Sakharov gold medal

The Sakharov Gold Medal ( Russian Золотая медаль имени А.Д. Сахарова ) was named after the Russian physicist Andrei Dmitrijewitsch Sakharov . Since 1996 it has been awarded every five years by the Russian Academy of Sciences to a Russian or foreign scientist for outstanding achievements in nuclear physics , elementary particle physics or cosmology .
