Roland V. Wegner
Roland Wegner (born October 1975 in Wertingen ) is a German politician of the V-Party³ - party for change, vegetarians and vegans . Since April 30, 2016 he has been the federal chairman of this party. He was also known as a stair runner . In addition, the former athlete set some world records in backward running .
Life
In 2005 he studied administration science and justice in Hof (Saale) and graduated with a degree in administrative management (FH). Since 2009 he has been managing director of the Gablingen municipal administration in the Augsburg district.
Wegner's best performance in the forward run is 22.37 seconds over 200 meters and 49.14 seconds over 400 meters. With LAC Quelle Fürth he reached the final of the German Athletics Championships over 4 x 400 meters in 2002 (Leipzig) and 2004 (Braunschweig). In 2012 he became German champion over 400 meters in the M35 age group in Erfurt.
He won the Augsburger Perlachturmlauf a total of ten times up to 2012 and thus most often; he also holds the absolute fastest time there. At the International Stiegenlauf in Judenburg , he was also able to set a new course record in 2008. He set further course records in staircases at the town hall tower run in Hof, as well as at the stair run in Rotenburg ad Fulda in 2009 and at the Modepark-Röther high-rise run in 2010. In his time as a successful stair sprinter, he carried handicapped people up to the 70-meter-high Augsburg Perlach tower shortly before Christmas.
Wegner founded the IRR (International Retrorunner) for backward runners in 2005, which has been hosting world championships every two years since 2006. Over 100 meters backwards (13.6 seconds), 4 times 100 meters backwards (62.55 seconds) and 200 meters backwards (31.56 seconds) he set world records in backward running. In 2010 his book Retrorunning - backwards to new goals was published .
In 2010 Wegner founded the Athletics Association Augsburg. As head of the athletics community (until 2017), he succeeded in politically pushing through the renovation of the Augsburg Rosenaustadion .
Wegner first gained political experience with the SPD . For the 2014 Augsburg city council election , he ran for 32nd place on the list and received 14,908 votes. After the alliance of the Augsburg SPD with the CSU, he left the party and two years later founded the V-Party³. With him as federal chairman, the V-Party³ established regional associations in all 16 federal states and in 2017 ran for the first time in the federal elections in 12 federal states. In 2020 he successfully led the V-Party³ in the local elections as a top candidate in the Augsburg city council. With a total of 15 parties and nominations, the V-Party³ received 69,649 votes (1.4 percent) when it first participated and won a seat with Wegner.
In 2015 he took over a hazelnut plantation with 1.3 hectares, which he has been cultivating biovegan since then .
Trivia
In the ZDF show Wetten, dass ..? In May 2010, he presented a bet in which he changed from being a businessman to being an athlete walking backwards on a treadmill within 2:30 minutes. He repeated the bet at the Christmas party of the Austrian football clubs Rapid Wien .
In 2017 he supported the actress Barbara Rütting in a fundraising campaign to rescue the cow Elli, which had previously been hiding in the forest for months and was housed in a sanctuary.
