The Sachsenheim-Ring was a dog racing track on the area of the Baden-Württemberg city of Sachsenheim . The railway opened in the 1970s and was closed in 2016 to make way for the growing Eichwald business park .

The facility is a racetrack with a surface made of sand , and the irrigation system ensures optimal flow . The track is arranged as an endless oval and offers race tracks of 280 m, 360 m and 480 m. The curve radius is 42 m.
history
The Solitude Greyhound Racing Club, or WRSV Solitude for short, was founded in 1961. In the mid-1970s, they came into possession of the area next to the US missile launching base in Sachsenheim, first at provisional sites and as guests at other sites. The American-owned site served as a junkyard and was a former glider airfield. With the help of US pioneering equipment , the site was prepared for the construction of the racetrack and gradually expanded. In 1979 the German national championship race was held on the facility. In the beginning only the curves were laid out with sand strips, until 1994 the system was completely expanded to a sand runway. In 2007 the FCI World Championship was held here. The end comes with the southern expansion of the Eichwald industrial park, which has already been built north of the greyhound race track. The last race took place on April 10, 2016 on the facility. A short time later, the system was removed and the preparatory work for the southern expansion, u. a. with a central goods service center from Breuninger .
