The Sachsenplatz in Vienna is located in Vienna's 20th district, Brigittenau .

Its name goes back to the year 1866 when the Kingdom of Saxony fought together with the Austrian Empire against Prussia in the so-called German War . After the defeat in the Battle of Königgrätz , Saxon troops withdrew to what is now Brigittenau. The square was named in 1877 as thanks for Saxony's solidarity with Austria. Until 1900 he was in the 2nd district, Leopoldstadt , from which Brigittenau was then separated.

The square occupied by Sachsenpark was given clockwise house numbers, starting in the southwest with No. 1 at the corner of Wallensteinstrasse 59 and ending with No. 17 at the corner of Heistergasse 10 / Wallensteinstrasse in the south of the square. With its houses nos. 9 and 10, the square interrupts Waldmüllergasse, which is adjacent to the north and parallel to Wallensteinstrasse.
