Sadael is a funeral doom band founded in 2004 .

history

Vahe Soghomonyan founded Sadael in 2004 in Yerevan as a one-person project. Soghomonyan has brought in live and guest musicians to Sadael's publications and performances. According to our own statements, the project has moved to St. Petersburg over the years . In the course of his active career, Sadael released a large number of albums and EPs , sometimes several within a year. Soghomonyan cooperated with companies such as Le Crépuscule du Soir Productions , Silent Time Noise , Art of Silence , Endless Winter and GS Productions . In addition, the project participated in split releases with Anlipnes , Ritual Flame and Desolation .

reception

Sadael received varying degrees of attention in the course of the activity. In particular , Essence , published in cooperation with Art of Silence , a subcontractor of Solitude Productions , received international reviews. In the meantime, the album was mostly rated as average to good. Diary of Loss , which Sadael had published on Silent Time Noise , received similarly far-reaching attention . Diary of Dreams was rated average to good as was Essence . The reception of further publications fell short of this perception.

style

In a review of the webzine Metal.de on Essence , Jan Wischkowski describes the music played by Sadael as "expansive, long-drawn funeral doom" that pairs with keyboard passages that try to wrap themselves in a " dark ambient coat". Mike Liassides from the webzine Doom-Metal.com describes the oeuvre of the project as diverse and varied. Essence is angry and raw, while Diary of Loss appears lush and keyboard-heavy. The album Dreams is also based on the interplay of keyboard passages that are close to dark ambient and neoclassic , and funeral doom. The keyboard and guitar playing can be perceived as a dramatic, almost histrionic interplay, while the vocals vary between clear vocals and growling . A sustained dynamic can also be seen in drumming.
