The Saemaeul (새마을 - 호, Saemaeul-ho, in older transcriptions also Saemaul ) is the name for the trains operated by the Korean Railway Company Korail since 1969 , which differ from the simpler Mugunghwa trains with larger and more comfortable seats and the absence of standing room distinguish. Before the introduction of the KTX , they were the fastest trains running in Korea.

Since 2014 the current Long Length Saemaeul-ho Passenger Cars have been replaced by the new ITX-Saemaeul. The last train of this type went to Yongsan on April 30, 2018. Older trains that are no longer in use are the Diesel Hydraulic Car (DHC) and the Streamlined Saemaul-ho Passenger Car.

The name Saemaeul means New Village, it refers to Saemaeul Undong ("New Village Campaign"), an initiative launched in 1970 to modernize rural regions.
