Safe and Sound (German: Alive and kicking ) is a song of the American indie pop - duo Capital Cities . The piece was published in digital form in the USA in February 2011 and on April 5, 2013 in Germany. In the USA, the song was used for a video by the Diabetes Hands Foundation in 2011 , and in Germany Vodafone used it in a promotional video in 2013.

Music video
A music video for the release of the song premiered on April 25, 2013 on YouTube with a length of three minutes and 47 seconds. The Swede Jimmy Ahlander directed the video . It shows an initially dark theater, the lighting of which is activated by a lightning strike. Electricity flashes can also be seen inside the building. The singing duo appear for the first time in a black and white photo, which is dated to 1913. Some of the people depicted in the pictures on display are brought to life by this very lightning bolt. The figures in the pictures dance to the music, with some figures remaining in black and white. Other figures show dance elements with breakdance figures that only became popular in the 1970s. This anachronistic contradiction is often used as a stylistic device, so in some scenes both gramophones and a stage with electrical sound amplification can be seen simultaneously. The singers appear in different outfits and are shown both in color and in black and white. At least Sebu Simonian can be seen in an extra role. Reference is made to other works by the Capital Cities in the form of exhibited posters. At the end of the video everything goes back to its original position.
At the Grammy Awards in 2014 was safe and sound in the category Best Music Video nomination, but lost Suit & Tie by Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z .
