Sagar (saint)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sagar († around 170/175) was bishop of Laodikeia on Lycus and saint .

One tradition sees Sagar as a pupil of the apostle Paul , but a direct pupil relationship with Paul is excluded because of the time lag. Sagar is said to have died as a martyr under the Proconsul Servilius at the time of Emperor Mark Aurel ; this martyrdom is dated around 170 or 175.

Sagar is venerated as a saint. His feast day is October 6th .
