Saida ( Arabic سعيدة, DMG Saʿīda , tamazight ⵙⵄⵉⴷⴰ Sɛida ) is a city in the province of the same name in western Algeria with (2006 estimate) 130,000 inhabitants.

The city is strategically located on the southern slope of the Tell Atlas . A fort already existed on the site in Roman times , and in the 19th century the Algerian freedom fighter Abd el-Kader had a fortress here . When the French forces advanced in 1844, he had the city burned down. In 1854 the French re-established the city as a military outpost.

The most important branches of the economy include the leather industry , mineral water extraction and agriculture .
