Sail Away (song)

Sail Away is a song composed by Bernie Paul and Todd Canedy . The text comes from Irmgard Klarmann . The song became famous in 1991 in the version sung by Hans Hartz . Through its use in television advertising for Beck’s beer, the title became internationally known and with over 1.6 million records sold, it was also a sales success for the artist.

In 1995 the campaign was continued with a re-recording of the song by Joe Cocker . In 2003 there was a version of Ayak . In 2004 the Dutch band 16 down interpreted the title for an advertisement for the beer manufacturer.
