Todd Canedy

Todd Canedy (born November 26, 1952 in Flora , Illinois , † December 15, 2015 in Midwest City , Oklahoma ) was an American jazz drummer and music producer .

Canedy studied at California State University, Fullerton , and completed a workshop with Louis Bellson . In 1972 he came to Europe to attend the Montreux Jazz Festival . He worked with Bobby Jones and Horace Parlan and then played in Joe Haider's trio ; he is also involved in his album Reconciliation (1974 with Ack van Rooyen and Andy Scherrer ). With Haider he went to the Swiss Jazz School to teach drums there. In the next few years he played with Wolfgang Dauner , Dusko Goykovich and the Rhythm Combination and Brass by Peter Herbolzheimer . Since 1978 he has been part of Austria 3 by Werner Pirchner , Harry Pepl and Adelhard Roidinger , with whom he also recorded the album of the same name (1979). As a jazz musician, he is also documented on albums with Dieter Reith , Peter Herbolzheimer, Stephan Diez , Don Sugarcane Harris , Wolfgang Schmid and Frank Rosolino .

He also worked as a studio musician in the field of light music , where he also worked as a singer, producer and songwriter (" Sail Away "). He also composed film music for the feature film Mama Mia - Nur kein Panik (1984). Most recently, he worked as an IT manager for a company in Oklahoma .

He died on December 15, 2015 of complications from cancer.
