Saimura Gorō

Saimura Gorō ( Japanese 斎 村 五郎 ; * May 4, 1887 Fukuoka Prefecture ; † March 13, 1969 ) was a Japanese Kendōka .

Saimura was a kendō teacher at Miyazaki Middle School on Kyūshū . From 1916 he taught at Waseda and Kokushikan Universities as well as with the Tokyo City Police . He had a great influence on the development of modern kendo. He is one of the only five carriers of the 10th Dan in Kendo.

He is also known from the film recordings from 1953. The ten forms of the Kendōkata, as they were common before the war, were shown. His partner was Mochida Moriji .
