Sacrament chapel
A sacrament chapel is a chapel that is used for silent prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament , which is kept there in the tabernacle or exposed in a monstrance . The presence of Christ is indicated by the eternal light .
Sacrament chapels are often found in larger Roman Catholic churches and cathedrals , e.g. B. in Cologne Cathedral or Liebfrauendom Munich . They are used for devotion and gathering in silence, which is why they are reserved for prayers in busy and noisy churches. Occasionally the room is also used for church services and devotions on a small scale, which is why there is usually an altar and an ambo , if necessary .
