Salam standard

The Salam Standard is an international hotel classification that provides information about the "Muslim friendliness" of hotels. Depending on the criteria met, a hotel can achieve bronze, silver, gold or platinum status. The Salam Standard is recognized and supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Islamic Tourism Center and was presented at the COMCEC meeting of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 2017 . In 2017, over 55,000 hotels were certified. Salam Standard is operated by Tripfez Travel, a company headquartered in Malaysia .

purpose

Salam Standard aims to increase the quality standards and transparency of hotels for Muslim travelers.

history

Salam Standard was founded in October 2015 by Faeez Fadhlillah and Jürgen Gallistl. In April 2017, the classification was expanded from a 3-level system to the current 4-level system.

Classification

Bronze criteria

  • 100% of all hotel rooms are equipped with a shower / toilet or a bathtub / toilet
  • a Muslim prayer rug is available in the room or can be requested
  • the direction of prayer ( qibla ) for Muslims is shown in the room or can be requested

Silver criteria

  • a list of restaurants near the hotel that offer halal food is available in the room or may be requested
  • the minibar in the room does not contain alcoholic beverages (or if available, these will be removed on request)
