The Zierliche salt mouse ( Salinomys delicatus ) is in Argentina living rodent species from the group of New world . It was not scientifically described until 1995 .

These animals are jerboa-like animals with strikingly long hind legs and large ears. They reach a head body length of 6 to 8 centimeters, the tail becomes 9 to 12 centimeters long. The weight is 9 to 15 grams. The long fur is olive-gray on the top and whitish on the underside. The tail is longer than the body and ends in a tassel.

These rodents are only known from four places in western Argentina (provinces of San Juan and San Luis ). Their habitat are bush lands on the edge of salt deserts . Otherwise, little is known about their way of life.

Their closest relatives are likely to be the Chaco mice ( Andalgalomys ) and the animals of the genus Graomys .
