Salor

Salor ( Thai สะล้อ ) is a shell skewer lute in northern Thailand that is struck with a bow .

The sound box of the string instrument consists of a coconut shell . The fingerboard is made of teak - or some other hardwood. The salor has either two or three metal strings. The bow is made of wood with horse hair stretched between both ends.

The salor is played in folk music ensembles, especially during festive occasions such as Loi Krathong , house ceremonies, weddings, funerals and as an accompaniment to singing.
