Salzburg24 was founded in 2007 as the first online news portal for the state of Salzburg. The portal is integrated into Salzburg Digital GmbH, a subsidiary of Salzburger Nachrichten . The news portal operates independently and has its own editorial team.

history

The idea for the first online news portal in Salzburg came about in the media company Russmedia (Vorarlberger Medienhaus until 2012). Salzburg24 went online on November 23, 2007 and can be found at the web address www.salzburg24.at ever since . In August 2012 the portal was sold to the Salzburger Nachrichten. The seven employees from editorial and sales were taken over. Only based in the Alpenstrasse in Salzburg, the workforce moved to the premises of Salzburg Digital GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Salzburger Nachrichten, in 2013. The portal is free of charge for users and is financed through advertising. A major relaunch of the website took place in 2018 .

Corporate structure

The Salzburg24 editorial team has been located at Karolingerstrasse 1 since 2013. The Salzburg Digital GmbH companies are Salzburger Nachrichten (100% owned by Maximilian Dasch ) and Kaindl-Hönig Vermögensgesellschafts mbH (100% owned by DKFM Trude Kaindl-Hönig ) and Dasch Vermögensgesellschafts mbH (100% owned by Maximilian Dasch). Stefan Tschandl was editor-in-chief from 2007 to 2010, and Nicole Schuchter has been editor-in-chief since then.

The online news portal focuses on regional news from the state of Salzburg. The focus is on current news from the city of Salzburg as well as the districts and sports.
