Through the subsidiaries Peiner SMAG, RAM SMAG Lifting Technologies, SMAG Mobile Antenna Masts, Nordmeyer SMAG Mining & Drilling Technologies and the BMA Braunschweigische Maschinenbauanstalt , SMAG is active in various areas of mechanical and plant engineering.
Peiner SMAG and RAM SMAG Lifting Technologies manufacture grabs for loading cranes and spreaders . Nordmeyer SMAG Mining & Drilling Technologies develops and produces special vehicles for surface and underground mining. The company SMAG Mobile Antenna Masts is the only manufacturer in the world of tension-free, mobile antenna supports with a height of up to 40 meters. The Braunschweigische Maschinenbauanstalt designs plant technology for industrial sugar production.
history
The company was founded in 1919 by Anton Raky , an engineer for drilling technology and oil production, as Anton Raky, company for deep drilling . This company later changed its name to Bergbau AG and was incorporated into the Reichswerke Hermann Göring in 1937 . After the war, the company was renamed several times until Salzgitter Maschinenbau GmbH was founded in 1987. At that time, this was owned by Salzgitter AG , which was then state-owned . Two years after the privatization of Salzgitter AG and its takeover by Preussag , Salzgitter Maschinenbau GmbH was sold to ETN-Maschinenbau GmbH in Braunschweig.
