Through the subsidiaries Peiner SMAG, RAM SMAG Lifting Technologies, SMAG Mobile Antenna Masts, Nordmeyer SMAG Mining & Drilling Technologies and the BMA Braunschweigische Maschinenbauanstalt , SMAG is active in various areas of mechanical and plant engineering.

Peiner SMAG and RAM SMAG Lifting Technologies manufacture grabs for loading cranes and spreaders . Nordmeyer SMAG Mining & Drilling Technologies develops and produces special vehicles for surface and underground mining. history

The company was founded in 1919 by Anton Raky , an engineer for drilling technology and oil production, as Anton Raky, company for deep drilling . This company later changed its name to Bergbau AG and was incorporated into the Reichswerke Hermann Göring in 1937 .
