The Salzlandtheater is a theater in Staßfurt , Saxony-Anhalt . It is mainly used as a guest theater.
Location and architecture
The Salzlandtheater is located in the old town of Staßfurt, which is characterized by mining and its consequences. The building complex extends from the Tränental (front building), over Steinstrasse (city palace with theater café) to Wächterplatz (stage and cloakroom). The theater has a hall in the style of the peasant baroque with 293 seats. The city palace of Werdensleben is particularly valuable from a historical point of view , in which the smaller Tilly Hall, built in 1550, is located with its listed Renaissance ceiling (1601).
history
In 1946 a city theater was founded, from which a little later the Salzlandtheater Staßfurt emerged. Until December 2005, the city of Staßfurt was still the sponsor of the theater, but on January 1, 2006 it handed over responsibility for the operation of the theater to the Friends of the Salzlandtheater Staßfurt eV, founded in 1993
