Balthasar von Brunn , also Brunne , (born August 28, 1593 in Brunne , † July 20, 1643 Königsberg ) was a Brandenburg statesman .

Life

Origin and family

Balthasar was a member of the Brandenburg noble family von Brunn . His parents were Melchior von Brunn and Elisabeth, née von Schönermarck. He entered the marriage three times, first with Ursula von Göllnitz, widowed von Blumenthal († 1636), then with Hedwig Lucrezia von Britzke († 1638), and finally with Christiana Tugendreich von Otterstedt. A daughter and son Georg Wilhelm, from the Electoral Palatinate Privy Council, are known from their third marriage .

Career

Brunn studied at the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt , the University of Jena and the University of Strasbourg . In 1624 he undertook his cavalier tour that took him through France . Although he originally aspired to become a scholar, in 1629 he entered the service of Kurbrandenburg as a court and chamber judge . In 1631 he was envoy to the Protestant Convention in Frankfurt (Main) . A little after his appointment to the Really Privy Council in 1633, he was also appointed captain of the County of Ruppin . When, in 1638, Elector Georg Wilhelm von Brandenburg (1595–1640) was assigned the Duchy of Pomerania as a fief in Vienna , he was represented by Brunn. When Elector Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg (1620–1688) took office, Brunn was the only Secret Council in Königsberg. Even under his new employer, he rendered valuable services in the area of ​​internal administration.
