The saltwater crocodile ( English Australian Saltwater Crocodile ) is an investment coin made of silver, which was issued in 2014 by the Australian mint The Perth Mint with an edition of one million pieces. As of February 2018, the motif was not used for other investment coins for the following minting years, since then the Perth Mint has only issued coins with variants of the motif aimed at collectors in far smaller editions and at far higher prices than given by the metal value.

overview

The motif side of the 1 oz coin features a saltwater crocodile with its mouth open. On the value side is the classic image of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley .

The saltwater crocodile is the Perth Mint's fourth silver bullion after the koala , the kookaburra and the lunar series. Unlike its predecessors, it was not intended to vary the motif of the Australian Saltwater Crocodile in the coming years.
