The Kookaburra is a silver investment coin issued in Australia .
The 1 oz coins have been minted since 1990, with The Perth Mint first issuing the 1 oz coin with a face value of $ 5 . Since 1992, the 1oz coin has only had a face value of one Australian dollar. On one side the image of Queen Elizabeth II is embossed, on the other side the image of the Australian bird Kookaburra is embossed with annually changing motifs. The 2 oz, 10 oz and 1 kg coins have only been minted since 1991.
