The Cook Islands coin bar is an investment coin and Kurant coin that is only available in silver . The coin has the shape of a stamped bar ( coin bar ) and is the official currency in the Cook Islands . Thus, up to and including 2013, only the reduced VAT rate of 7% was due in Germany . The coin bar itself was conceived by the German coin dealer Jürgen Göbel.
