Sam Lantinga

Sam Oscar Lantinga (* around 1974) is an American computer scientist. He is the creator of Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL), a popular open source library for game and multimedia development.

Life

Sam Lantinga studied from September 1992 at the University of California , where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science in April 1997 . He worked as a senior programmer at Loki Software , a company that ported computer games to Linux . There he started working on SDL and other open source programs. In 2001 he went to Blizzard Entertainment . Since July 2012 he has been working for the game manufacturer Valve Corporation , where he collaborates with other Linux game developers on porting Steam and Left 4 Dead 2 to the Linux operating system.
