Baltic tribes in the 12th century

The Žemaites , also Samogites or Samaites , Lithuanian Žemaičiai , were a Baltic tribe . He was in western Lithuania , in Samogitia (lit. Žemaitėjė ), resident. The language is Žemaitic . Around 880 AD the Anglo-Saxon traveler Wulfstan called the Žemaites Sarmants .
