Seed fruit is a collective term for a group of types of fruit in which seeds or parts of the seed are eaten. The seeds can range from nacktsamigen derived conifers or from fruits of angiosperms , whose pericarp lignified (pericarp) or unpalatable for other reasons.

Examples of seed derived from Bedecksamern and are eaten Brazil nut , almond , walnut , pistachio or hazelnut . Although the unit of distribution of these species is fruit, we only eat the seeds, while the outer parts, the fruit walls, are not used.

In the case of pomegranate , purple grenadilla or litchi plum , juicy tissues of the seed coat or the seed coat are eaten.
