Sami Abdullah al-Jabir , ( Arabic سامي عبدالله الجابر, DMG Sāmī ʿAbdullāh al-Ǧābir , after English transcription often Al-Jaber ; * December 11, 1972 in Riyadh ) is a former Saudi Arabian soccer player .

Al-Jabir began his career at Al-Hilal in 1987 . In 1990 he was appointed to the national team for the first time . Al-Jabir participated with his country in the 1994 , 1998 , 2002 and 2006 world championships. Al-Jabir was also there when he won the Asian Cup in 1996 .

In his career, al-Jabir played 163 games for his country, in which he scored 44 goals.

At club level, he won the AFC Champions League in 1992 and 2000 and the Asian Cup Winners' Cup in 1996 and 2002. He also won the Asian Supercup in 1996 and 2000. Except for a five-month stint with Wolverhampton Wanderers , which failed, he played at Al-Hilal throughout his career. He was Saudi Arabian champion in 1988, 1990, 1996, 1998, 2002 and 2005. After the 2006 World Cup, he wanted to end his career. Al-Jabir decided to continue playing for Al-Hilal. He ended his career in January 2008. In his honor, Al-Hilal organized a farewell game against Manchester United in Riyadh in front of 65,000 spectators . He has been working as an official trainer at Al-Hilal since 2013 .
