Sammy Davis Sr.
Sammy Davis senior (born December 12, 1900 in Wilmington , North Carolina , † May 21, 1988 in Beverly Hills ) was the father of Sammy Davis, Jr. and like him an American singer.
Sammy Davis, Sr. was married to Elvera Sanchez and both worked as vaudeville dancers. They split when Sammy Davis, Jr. was three years old. Sammy Davis, Sr. took care of his son himself and regularly took him on tours. Together with Will Mastin he taught his son to dance and the three performed as the Will Mastin Trio .
Sammy Davis, Sr. also starred in various movies, the most famous of which was The Benny Goodman Story .
