The settlement of San Carlos is located in the south of the San Carlos Water Bay in East Falkland . The place got its name after the Spanish ship San Carlos that anchored here in 1768.
As part of Operation Sutton , a large part of the British units that fought on Western Falkland during the Falklands War ended up in the place, which was codenamed "Blue Beach" . Today a museum and a military cemetery commemorate the landing of the British.
San Carlos is also called "JB" after the previous owner Jack Boner.
