San Giovanni (Rome)

The municipality IX San Giovanni is one of the 19 municipalities of the city of Rome . It is located southeast of the old town and extends roughly between the city wall, the Parco della Appia Antica , the Via Appia Nuova and the railway line Rome - Ciampino . The municipality is named after the Basilica of St. John Lateran , which is located within the city wall.

San Giovanni had 126,690 inhabitants (2010). It is divided into the following districts:

The area was settled at the beginning of the 20th century. The main access road is Via Appia Nuova .
