It is located in the south of the Tacuarembó department on the right bank of the Río Negro .

history

On October 15, 1963, San Gregorio de Polanco was classified in the " Villa " category by Law No. 11,689 .

Residents

The 1996 census counted 3,101 residents. In 2004 the population of San Gregorio de Polanco was 3,673 (as of 2004). At the 2011 census, 3,415 residents were registered in the city, 1,702 male and 1,713 female. This makes it the third largest city in the department.
