San Ramón de Alajuela is one of the 13 districts of the capital San Ramón in the province of Alajuela in the Central American state of Costa Rica .

The district extends over 1.29 km², is populated with 10,710 people and is 1057 meters above sea level in the Cordillera de Tilarán .

It lies between the rural villages in the north and the cities of San José (Costa Rica) , Alajuela , Heredia , and Cartago in the Meseta Central .

history

In 1854, San Ramón de los Palmares was declared the capital of San Ramón along with 12 other smaller towns.
