The Sanae Bank ( English ) is a 200 to 400 m below sea level submarine bank in the Haakon VII Sea off the Princess Martha coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land .
It has been named since June 1997 at the suggestion of the surveyor and glaciologist Heinrich Hinze from the Alfred Wegener Institute based on the neighboring South African SANAE station .
