The Sandford Cliffs are prominent and mostly un-iced cliffs in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . They represent the western boundary of the Peletier Plateau in the Queen Elizabeth Range .
The New Zealand Southern Group of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) named him after Herbert Neil Sandford (* 1930), who was involved in the construction of Scott Base and who had been part of the winter occupation there in 1957 as part of the International Geophysical Year .
