The Sandy Bottom Nature Park is an American city park in the middle of Hampton, Virginia , which is home to around 450 different species of plants and animals and was opened to the public in 1996.

In the middle of the park are two small lakes that were created by the extraction of sand for the local construction industry. The light sandy soil can be seen through the clear groundwater. One of the lakes can be kayak for a fee .

As sand mining continues in the second lake, it increases in size. There are various subspecies of perch and other freshwater fish in both lakes . Even turtles can be observed on the shores of the lake.

The park is accessible via a network of paths of 20 km in length and can also be accessed by bike . Camping and camping is permitted in various parts of the park .

The central point of contact of the park is a visitor center , which provides information on various native animals, but also presents some animals in terrariums . In the park, indigenous plants are explained in detail by attached signs. The park is often used by school classes as visual lessons, who can use a classroom in the visitor center. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. The opening time of the visitor center depends on the season.
