Sant Cristòfol d'Anyós

Sant Cristòfol d'Anyós ( Catalan for: Saint Christophorus von Anyós ) is a Romanesque church in the center of Anyós in the Andorran municipality of La Massana . It is located at the end of the village plateau, about 1,310 m above sea level.

The original church was 5 x 4 meters. In the 16th century, the building was extended by lengthening the nave and its height with a new roof and adding a semicircular apse made of regular stone blocks covered by a quarter- spherical vault . The apse and the north wall are from the Romanesque period .

A new small bell tower was built on the west wall with a window on each side and a roof with four slopes. In 1936 the Romanesque wall paintings attributed to the Master of Santa Coloma and dated in the 12th century were restored.

Every year on July 10, which is Patronatstag of Christopher with the vehicle blessing celebrated in this church. The building has been declared a Building of Cultural Interest.
