Santa Maria is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Torres Novas . The community had 5020 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Torres Novas (Santa Maria), Torres Novas (Salvador) and Torres Novas (Santiago) were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Torres Novas (Santa Maria, Salvador e Santiago) . Torres Novas (Santa Maria) is the seat of this newly formed community.
