Santiago Luna (born November 29, 1962 in Madrid ) is a Spanish professional golfer on the European Tour . With more than 500 tournament participations in more than 20 years he is one of the veterans of this tournament series. Since 2013 he has also been eligible to play on the European Seniors Tour .
Career
His father worked at the Puerta de Hierro Golf Club in Madrid , where little Santiago was born appropriately. In 1982 he started his career as a professional golfer , but it wasn't until 1995 that he won his first and so far only tournament victory on the European Tour . Before and after that, Luna was quite successful outside of the big tour, especially the Moroccan King Hassan II Trophy developed into his favorite event. He won this trophy three times in total. He has been victorious in the Spanish professional championships four times.
Luna represented his country twice in the Dunhill Cup , where he defeated Tiger Woods once in a direct duel , and three times in the World Cup .
Santiago Luna has been married to his wife Mamen since 1991. The two have two sons and live in Madrid .
