Santiago Santero

Santiago Santero (* 1962 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine composer, conductor and music teacher.

Santero studied piano at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música , orchestral conducting at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata and composition with Guillermo Graetzer and Mariano Etkin . He made his conductor's debut with the Orquesta de Entre Ríos and the Sinfónica de Santa Fe . He later founded and directed his own ensembles such as Grupo Estudio Contemporáneo (with Sergio Hualpa ), the Halloween Ensemble and the CEAMC ensemble , with which he played classical works of the 20th century and premiered works by contemporary composers.

Since 1999 Santero has participated in the Ciclo de Música Contemporánea of the Teatro San Martín . At the Centro de Experimentación des Teatro Colón , he led the performance of contemporary compositions, experimental works and sound installations as a guest conductor. He has also conducted festivals in Peru, Colombia, the USA, England and Switzerland.

As a composer Santero emerged mainly with chamber music and stage works. His opera Estudio al Estilo Veneciano premiered in 1996 at the Centro de Experimentación des Teatro Colón . The first performance of the pieces Periplos (2000) and ... y ... y ... y ... played the Ensamble XXI . In 2004 he composed the music for the film ANHUA, amanecer . Santero teaches at the Instituto Universitario Nacional del Arte and the Facultad de Bellas Artes of the Universidad de La Plata .
