history

In 1963, Skandinaviska Aluminum Profiler was founded by Lars Bergenhem and Nils Bouveng . The first factory was located in Vetlanda . In 1970, an agreement was signed with Nokia Oy which provided for the establishment of a joint pressing plant in the Netherlands. In 1971 the British company RTZ-Pillar was taken over by the Rio Tinto-Zinc Corporation . In 2005 Elkem took over Sapa , which was bought by Orkla of Norway in the same year. In 2009 the company was enlarged by taking over the insolvent American Indalex . In 2013 the aluminum profile businesses of Hydro and Orkla were merged. In October 2017, Hydro acquired all shares in Sapa from Orkla.
