from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sarner Kirchtag is one of the largest folk festivals in South Tyrol . The venue is Sarnthein . The "Platzmann-Anger" serves as a parking lot and the "Haberleanger" as a fairground. The festival is organized by the Sarnthein volunteer fire brigade and the local band. It takes place on the first weekend in September and lasts for three days. The first day is Saturday, called "Kirchtesomste" by the locals, followed by "Kirchtesunnte". On the last day, Monday on Monday, there is a traditional farmers' market on the fairground and in the center of the village.

The Church Days and the Church Who Weeks

The Kirchtesomste

On the first day of the Sarner Kirchtag, the “Kirchtag” is only attended in the evening, as it does not open until around 6 p.m. (the time varies from year to year) with a small parade through the center of Sarnthein. Later there is also a torchlight parade to the fairground. But it is not only celebrated in the evening; In the morning there is a horse festival that has nothing to do with the actual Sarner Kirchtag.

The church sun

The second day of the Sarner Kirchtag opens at 10 a.m. with a procession of a South Tyrolean music band, which then holds a concert on the fairground. The highlight of the entire festival is the traditional costume parade with fanfare winds, music bands, floats and various local associations of the Sarntal . The parade takes place at 2 p.m. and leads from the artisan zone of Sarnthein to the fairground. Then the party continues until late at night.

The church mount

The "church mount" is the last day of the Sarner Kirchtag. There is an animal market on the fairground, an agricultural machinery market on Griesplatz and all kinds of curiosities are on offer on Alexiaplatz. The market lasts around noon.

The Church Who Weeks

In good German it means the "Church Day-Become Week". The "Kirchte-Wer-Wöch" is the week before the Sarner Kirchtag. The fairground is being prepared for the big festival and the "Kirchtemandl" is set up.

The church mandl

The little church man is a huge statue made of straw, which is dressed in the Sarner costume. It's at the entrance to Sarnthein. A little gag is that the male has straight eyes when he drives - he is sober. When leaving Sarnthein it squinted - it was drunk.
