A Sassanid helmet is a protective weapon from the Sassanid Empire.

description

A Sassanid helmet is made of iron . There are different versions of these helmets, which are counted among the spangen helmets . Usually these helmets are conical in shape. A wide band runs across the apex line, which connects the struts (clasps), which converge from the sides, with the helmet shell and offers protection against blows from above. The clasps and the helmet ridge are attached with thick rivets . The surface design varies with the different versions (see web links). Helmets of this type were worn by the Sassanid light cavalry troops and the mounted, heavy cavalry (KhosrowII).
