Saudukat

Saudukat , pig ducat or boar ducat were called hunting coins made of gold with a weight of one ducat on behalf of the hunting-obsessed Landgrave Ludwig VIII (Hessen-Darmstadt) around 1750 . The coins show a wild boar on one side and four crowned 'L' (mirrored twice) on the other side, arranged in such a way that a cross (or 8 lines) results. The inscription reads: I was betrayed by the Ducats .
