content

Both the TV series and the book are about the small animal village of Sauerkraut . The mayor, Mr. Eberle, is a domestic pig boar . He spends most of the time at the local inn, where he meets the oldest inhabitant of Sauerkraut: Miss Turtel, the 200-year-old teacher, a turtle , as well as the village pastor, Father Spiritus, and the Berlin crocodile, Mr. Bossi, the greedy antagonist of the village tries again and again to own everything for itself.

Bodo, dog and village policeman, has a son, Joey. This and his best friend Nandi expose Mr. Bossi again and again in his atrocities and thus maintain the balance of the village, but also repeatedly cause excitement with their pranks and secret experiments, for example with matches that cause a fire. Another villager is Dudu, a hybrid of the outsiders in the village who is viewed with both suspicion and pity. But it often plays an important, if not a central role.
