Saunder is an impact crater on the front of the moon southeast of the Sinus Medii , northeast of the crater Hipparchus . The crater is heavily eroded, the rim of the crater is irregular in shape and the interior is largely flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British astronomer Samuel Arthur Saunder .
