Savina Monastery

The Serbian Orthodox Savina Monastery is located east of Herceg Novi in the Bay of Kotor , Montenegro .

The complex, located in a park made of old pine and oak trees, consists of a cemetery, two churches and the monastery building itself. The smaller church, richly decorated with frescoes, dates from the 11th century . The large church was built in the 18th century by the artist Nikola Foretić of Korcula built. The magnificent iconostases are worth seeing . A seat in the monks' choir stalls has been marked by a plaque and made unusable by a pole since the assassination of King Alexander I during a visit to France in 1934 .
